Our Customers Say
More than 25.000 clients from 80 countries have already used our service. Be the next one!
The acronym A.P.A. stands for Advance Provisioning Allowance that applies to luxury yacht charters. It is an additional fee to pay in advance which covers the expenses that guests will bear during the yacht charter such as food and beverage, fuel, mooring fees, custom, and tourist taxes, excursions, etc.
The crew is in charge of managing the A.P.A. and collecting the receipts as a record of all purchases for the client. The unspent balance will be returned to the client at the end of the charter. If the amount spent exceed the deposit, the client will have to pay the balance at the end of the charter.
The amount of the A.P.A. varies depending on the yacht and its rental fee. It is approximately between 20% and 30% of the yacht charter price.
Above all, the skipper is responsible for the safety of the crew and of the boat. He is always a qualified professional in charge of navigation, manoeuvring, refilling, anchoring, and mooring. In addition, he has local knowledge on the navigation area, on the weather, on the airports and can give valuable suggestions on places to visit. The skipper satisfies the wishes of customers regarding destinations, stopovers, and distances to travel, but at any time he can take decisions based on weather forecasts and its authority must be respected.
When you hire a skipper, you should remember that he is considered as an additional crew member; thus, you should provide him with food and beverages. The most common approach is that the skipper eats onboard with the clients (this doesn't imply eating out invitation). However, if you prefer to have more privacy during your yacht charter, you can only give him money for buying food, and he can prepare his meals for his own.
The price of the skipper is not included in the rental price of the boat, and it may vary depending on the boat providers and the destination. Usually skipper's fee is 150 € per day, but, in general, prices range is from 150€ to 220€; it can reach up to 300€ per day in some cases.
As previously mentioned, the skipper should be considered as an additional passenger. Thus the skipper sleeps on board, and he needs his cabin (catamarans, for example, usually have specific crew cabins). Occasionally skippers can relax in the salon, but you should ask your agent during the organization of the details of your sailing vacations if it is possible to make such an arrangement.
After the presentation at the base, the skipper should help guests to accommodate and answer any doubt or question that you may have about the boat and its functionalities. He helps clients create the sailing itinerary, but most importantly he is responsible all 24 hours of the day for the boat and the passenger's safety, that's why he needs to rest and sleep well. Note that in its duties is not included cooking, cleaning, dishwashing, grocery shopping or babysitting.
The hostess is the person in charge of taking care of the passengers. She will make your sailing journey more comfortable, answering your questions and helping in case of any problems. Her primary responsibility is cleaning and tidying the boat, grocery shopping, preparing simple meals, and also assisting the skipper during some manoeuvres.
The chef is a professional culinary expert in charge of the management of the galley, the provisioning and the preparation of all the guests and crew meals. Compared to the hostess, he prepares more elaborated dishes and creative plate presentation, always according to the passengers' requests. His duties do not include the cleaning of the boat.

4. Reservation procedure
- Your advisor will advise you of the boats that best suit your needs and their availability.
- You should then let us know which one you are interested in.
- We will then pre-reserve the boat with the boat owner for you and it will typically be held on reserve for between 24 hours and one week, depending on season. Please note that boat availability is not guaranteed until we have received confirmation back from the owner.
- Once the boat owner confirms the availability of your selected boat, we will send you the reservation form with all the details.
- In order to complete the reservation, you must pay the amount of the first payment, which is normally 50% of the booking fee.
- You must send us proof of payment, fill in part of the form with your personal information, and send it to us so that we can issue you a receipt or invoice for your payment.
- We will issue the corresponding receipt or invoice and notify the boat owner of the client's details.
- The client will be sent a document confirming all the details of the charter. This must be signed and returned by the client. If the document is not signed, the client will be deemed to have no objections to its content.
- The remaining 50% must be paid between 45 and 30 days prior to departure. If the balance is not paid by this deadline, the owner has every right to cancel the booking without returning the first payment deposit.
- The voucher with all the base information, contact person, and telephone number will be sent to you. You must print it out and keep it with you during the trip. You will also be sent the invoice.
- If BoatBureau does not receive the requested information two weeks before the start of the charter, we cannot guarantee the success of the charter.
- If the reservation is confirmed less than one month before the departure date, a different procedure applies. The total amount must be paid at the time the reservation is confirmed.
